Dr. Suresh Chandra Dash, Emeritus Professor in Medicine and Professor & Head of the Department of Nephrology, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), KIIT University, Bhubaneswar was felicitated by the Former Prime Minister of Nepal, Hon’ble Shri K. P. Sharma Oli on 22nd September 2016 during an International Conference on Kidney Transplantation in Kathmandu.

Eminent Nephrologists and Transplantation Surgeons from Australia and other countries participated in the Conference, which was organized by Institute of Medical Sciences, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Prof. S. C. Dash is widely recognized in Nepal as an iconic physician, because of his immense contribution in the field of Nephrology. He had eventually set-up a Nephrology Unit and conducted the first Hemodialysis in Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, in 1987 under Indo-Nepal Friendship Treaty. Subsequently, he was appointed as a visiting Professor in B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. Nepal Television had earlier honoured him with “Nepal Gourav” award in 2007. He has treated and successfully transplanted kidneys with many patients, while working at AIIMS, New Delhi. Nepal Nephrology Society had invited him to participate in many Conferences and CMEs in the past.

He had organized several International Congress and was invited to several hospitals as visiting Professor in UK. He has presented lectures in many countries like USA, Japan, UK etc. He was delegated by Government of India to UK as a Senior Commonwealth fellow in 1992. Recently, he has been picked as an Educational Ambassador in Nephrology by International Society of Nephrology to impart teaching in foreign countries.
